Words to live by . . . .

Front Yard After 4

It has been a busy few weeks here on Westover Road!  We watered, watered and watered the grass some more until we had little baby blades appear.  It looked great . . . and then my husband found the gentleman who installed the original sprinkler system nearly 40 years ago.  Isn’t that nuts?!  Well, Robert the Sprinkler Miracle Worker set out to get the system back in working order.  He was definitely on a mission.  This entailed new valves, sprinkler heads, mechanical box and tearing up several places in the yard.  So much for all of the hubs’ hard work to get grass to grow.

Finally, after three weeks the system was up and running.  The two of us looked like little kids who had never seen a sprinkler before as we stood there in awe of the beautiful water works show that was going on in our front yard.  Of course we will only have it on for a few weeks before we have to shut it down until next spring, but it should be enough time to get more grass to come in and even better, it will be ready to turn on in the spring.  Yippee!

Sprinklers

The sprinklers are working!!

We also have our landscaping plan for the front yard – so exciting!  Several weekends and evenings were spent ridding the new planting beds of grass, laying out the new beds,  removing two large Cyprus trees and getting our base plantings in.  There is still much to do but the beds are ready and we will be able to start filling in with lovely little plants come spring.

I know – I should have picked up the hose, but we are still watering in the new plants. Our work never ends.

So we are now ready.  Like my dad always said Prior Proper Planning Promotes Peak Performance . . . . or something to that effect   😉
